My job is going great. It has branched off into uncharted territories for me. I have not been formally trained in the work I am doing, but all of my time spent on the computer at home is paying off. Part of my job right now is running the company's Social Networking and SharePoint page. I was Twittering for myself when I was selling real estate and I spent time on Twitter for the doggie daycare, but now I am able to dedicate more time to social networking and getting their name out there. I am now working on our website and marketing. I love that my job is different day to day and there is no set job description. I am also loving the company I work for. It is big enough that it isn't a small mom and pop shop, but small enough that there isn't a lot of corporate red tape to deal with.
I was looking at the calendar yesterday and realized that there is a party or even every single weekend for the next couple months. That is the bad thing about summers in New York. There is such a small time period of nice weather that you have to cram everything into a few short weeks. I don't think Mother Nature has had a chance to look at the calender though because it has rained off and on for over a week.
Dave is getting over a flu/ cold type illness. When it first started he went to see a doctor. The doctor said it appeared that he had the flu. With all the talk about N1H1 aka The Swine Flu, Dave asked if he should be tested. The doctor told him that he could be tested, but the only thing that would change is that he would have a name to go with it. Dave didn't bother getting tested. Another person I know was told that there were not enough N1H1 test, so they are only testing people who are in the hospital to know for sure. I can't help but laugh every time I see a news story about the Swine Flu and how the numbers are dropping or increasing. There is little or no truth behind these stories because most people are not even being tested. I chock it up to media hype and trying to play off people's fears...... much like most pit bull stories in the news.
Speaking of pit bulls, the dogs are doing great. Hank is on his way to becoming a well behaved dog. He still has random burst of stupid puppy behavior, but is learning to be respectful and mind his manners. I took both of them to a couple SPCA fundraiser events last month. Tater was an angel as usual and I expected Hank to be a handful. I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't spinning around at the end of the leash and acting like, well, like an animal. The events were great for socializing him to kids, strollers, other animals, and all the noises that accompany those things.
That about covers the events on this side of the world. My mom is coming to visit next month and I can not wait. Mom just ran her first 5k last weekend with my sister in law, Kari. I am very proud of both of them.
